When I’m hosting a larger group – especially when the ages range from little ones to grown-ups – I’ve learned that one type of snack just won’t cut it.
You need something that feels fun and festive but still balanced enough that everyone finds their favorite bite.
That’s exactly why I love putting together this Green Food Board. It’s a little bit savory, a little bit sweet, and completely eye-catching – and I’ll show you how to build it so it looks abundant, organized, and party-ready without feeling fussy.

How To Make This Green Food Board
Ingredients You’ll Need For This Recipe
Savory ingredients:
- A large handful or two of chips
- Dried parsley or chives
- Crunchy wasabi-coated peanuts
- 1 green bell pepper
- ½ small English cucumber
- Green olives
- Mini pickles
- Pistachio nuts
Sweet ingredients:
- 2–3 kiwis
- ½ pound green grapes
- 1 small green pear
- 1 small green apple
- Cookies with a green filling
- Cookies with a green glaze or topping
- Three types of green gummy candies (different shades if possible)
- 2 cups water
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
Optional dips:
- Tzatziki sauce
- 1 avocado
- A drizzle of oil
- ½ teaspoon lemon juice
- Salt and pepper
Step-by-Step Guide
1. Wash the apple, pear, kiwis, and grapes and let them dry slightly.
2. In a medium bowl, mix 2 cups of water with 2 tablespoons of lemon juice. Slice the apple and pear in half, remove the cores, and cut into medium-thick slices. Add them to the lemon water.
3. Slice the kiwis and add them as well. Let everything soak for just a few minutes while you start assembling the board – don’t let them sit too long.
4. Remove the fruit and gently pat dry with paper towels.
5. Choose one corner of your serving board and create a small pile of chips. Sprinkle dried parsley or chives over them for an extra pop of green. Next to the chips, moving toward the opposite corner, add a generous handful of wasabi-coated peanuts.
6. Slice the green bell pepper into thicker strips and arrange them around the wasabi nuts to help “hold” them in place. Slice the cucumber into medium-thick rounds and arrange them in a line through the center of the board after the wasabi nuts. This creates a natural savory pathway down the middle.
7. On one side of the chips, place a cluster of green grapes. On the other side, arrange the kiwi slices. Add the pear and apple slices next to the other fruits, then tuck in some of the green-filled cookies alongside them to begin the sweet section.
8. Moving toward the far end of the board, add a handful of green olives next to the cucumber slices and finish that section with a pile of mini pickles to keep the olives contained. Top off the wasabi nuts and olives if needed to keep everything looking full.
9. Use the remaining spaces to add the green-glazed cookies, three kinds of gummy candies, and pistachios. Scatter them in small piles so each item has its own moment but still feels cohesive.
10. If serving dips, spoon tzatziki into a small bowl. For the avocado dip, cut the avocado in half, scoop out the flesh, and mash with a fork until smooth. Drizzle with oil and ½ teaspoon lemon juice, then season with salt and pepper to taste. Transfer to a small serving bowl.
11. Keep dips refrigerated until serving. The assembled board can be covered and kept in a cool, dry place for up to 2 hours before guests arrive.

Important Recipe Notes
- Soaking fruit slices in lemon water helps prevent browning. The ideal ratio is 1 tablespoon lemon juice per 1 cup of water.
- Cut the kiwis last and avoid soaking them too long, as they can become soft.
- Choose any green cookies or candies available to you. I used green-filled sandwich cookies and mint-topped cookies for contrast, along with green apple and watermelon gummies. The key is variety in shade and texture.
- I arranged savory ingredients through the center of the 13×13-inch board and kept sweets on either side so flavors wouldn’t mix too much. Start with larger items first, then fill gaps – and don’t be afraid to rearrange as you go.
