If you’ve ever set out a bowl of fruit and wished it felt a little more “wow” and a little less ordinary, this one’s for you.
I love turning simple, everyday fruit into something that feels styled and special – especially when I’m hosting brunch or having a few friends over for coffee.

This Green Fruit Tray has just enough detail to make it look thoughtful, but it’s still wonderfully easy to pull together.
And when you center it around beautiful fruit skewers, it instantly becomes the star of the table.
How To Make This Green Fruit Tray
Ingredients You’ll Need For This Recipe
For the skewers and fruit tray:
- 1 banana
- 1 large green apple
- 1 large green pear
- 4–5 kiwis
- ½ pound green grapes
- 2 cups water
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
For the sauce:
- 1 teaspoon maple syrup
- ½ teaspoon fresh mint, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon lime juice
- A dash of salt
Step-by-Step Guide
1. In a small bowl, stir together the maple syrup, finely chopped mint, lime juice, and a dash of salt.
Mix until well combined, then refrigerate while you prepare the fruit. This gives the mint time to infuse the syrup with fresh flavor.
2. Thoroughly wash the apple, pear, kiwis, and grapes.
3. In a medium bowl, combine 2 cups of water with 2 tablespoons of lemon juice and set aside. This simple mixture will help keep your fruit looking fresh and vibrant.
4. Cut the apple and pear in half and remove the cores. Take half of each fruit and cut into thick slices, then cube those slices into bite-sized pieces. Drop them into the lemon water.
5. Slice the remaining halves normally into even slices and add those to the water as well.
6. Trim the ends off two kiwis, slice into thick rounds, remove the peel, and cut each round into four pieces. Add them to the lemon water.
7. Slice the remaining kiwis into rounds for decorating the tray and place them in the lemon water too.
8. Peel the banana and cut it into 10 thick slices. Add them to the lemon water.
Let all the fruit soak for just a few minutes.
9. Remove all fruit pieces from the lemon water and gently pat them dry with paper towels. This helps prevent excess moisture on your tray.
10. Thread the cubed fruit and banana slices onto skewers, mixing different fruits in different combinations. Make sure each skewer includes all the fruits for balanced flavors.
Depending on how large you cut your pieces, you may end up with more than five skewers.
11. Place the skewers in the center of a 12×9-inch tray. Drizzle them with the maple-mint sauce, letting a little of the syrup fall around the tray as well for a glossy finish.
12. Arrange small piles of grapes in each of the four corners. Place the sliced apple and pear halves on opposite ends of the tray. Tuck the kiwi slices along the opposing sides of the skewers to frame them beautifully.
13. Refrigerate the tray for up to 2 hours before serving to keep everything fresh and crisp.

Important Recipe Notes
- Chop the mint as finely as possible to release maximum flavor and help it distribute evenly in the sauce.
- The lemon-water soak helps prevent browning. Always use a 1 tablespoon lemon juice to 1 cup water ratio.
- Slice the kiwis and bananas last and don’t soak them too long, as they can soften quickly.
- You can make all skewers identical or vary the pattern – I like using two banana slices and grapes per skewer to balance the tart apple and pear.
- I used a 12×9-inch square tray, which these quantities filled perfectly. If you prefer a fuller look or are serving more guests, simply increase the fruit or use a larger tray.
- The arrangement is flexible. I centered the skewers so they would be the highlight, then built the rest of the tray around them. Start with larger items first and fill gaps as you go – and don’t be afraid to adjust things until it looks just right.
Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- Fresh, naturally sweet, and visually stunning.
- Perfect for brunch tables, showers, or spring gatherings.
- Can be prepped ahead with minimal effort.
- Kid-friendly and elegant enough for adults.
- The maple-mint drizzle makes it feel special without overpowering the fruit.
